"Ten Hours" ©2006 rob salzer

We couldn't get up if we tried
The laws of gravity wouldn't be denied
We didn't want to anyway
We had come so far to touch the break of day
We watched the fire from afar
It was the only light competing with the stars
That it until the sunlight came
And rendered obsolete the embers' primal game

Ten Hours of our lives
Spent with Strangers
But it just felt right in the moment
There was no better place on all of Earth to spend our
time

There's something else that I perceived
A feeling of being maliciously deceived
Indulged in smoke to ease my mind
But it matters not, we'll soon be left behind
It's come to light that they must leave
One must travel north, untarnished air she'll breathe
The other one must cross the sea
To settle in a paradise deeply serene

Ten Hours of our lives
Spent with Strangers
But it just felt right in the moment
There was no better place on all of Earth to spend our
time
